Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Please could you confirm what additions will be made to the current education facilities in the village? Please be very clear who will fund the improvements and when they will be made (i.e. Before house building commences, before bypass started etc).

A: Norfolk County Council as of September 2017

A  2 – 2.5ha site for a new 420 place primary school is being secured through a S106 agreement with the developers.  Discussions with the developer on the location and when this site can be handed over to NCC fully serviced to allow commencement of the new school building are continuing.   The eventual organisation of schools in Long Stratton  will be subject to discussions with the existing schools in the village.  Long Stratton High School will be expanded to an appropriate size to accommodate children from the new housing who wish for a place there.

Funding for this new school will be sought from the Greater Norwich Growth Board (GNGB) Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

The timetable for the opening of the new school building will be dependent on the availability of places at the existing schools in the area to admit the first children from the new development.
